Congrats to Naomi Campbell! The model, the legend, the veteran just landed her first beauty campaign for NARS. Wait a second. *pulls out calculator* Sigh. Campbell began her career as a fierce catwalker at the tender age of 15 and she’s only now becoming the face of a cosmetic brand. WTF?
Fashionista.com pulled up an interview Campbell gave to the Evening Standard in May 2017, basically summing up in few words why the hell this accomplishment has taken so long.
“I’ve never done [a beauty campaign] for anyone. People say, ‘Oh you’ve got beautiful skin’ and yet I’ve never done one.” The writer of the piece went on to note, “She gives me a look that says, ‘You know why.'”

Hopefully, as brands continue to follow in the footsteps of Fenty Beauty by celebrating skin hues of all shades, we’ll continue to see more representation in the beauty space.

The brand’s founder, Francois Nars, has nothing but good things to say about Campbell via Instagram:
“Naomi is a living icon and brings such strong personality to the camera,” says François Nars on the new face of NARS Spring 2019 campaigns, @naomi. “She and I are like family. I have known her since the very beginning of her career. From the start, I have admired her, her beauty, and her style.”
These brands better get right in 2019 if they still want to be in business.
