Rihanna just issued a clear warning to her pops: You may have given me my name, but I made it a name! Rih-Rih is in the middle of a nasty dispute with her father—Ronald Fenty—after he tried to file a trademark for a business called “Fenty Entertainment.”
According to The Guardian, Rihanna’s suit claims her father “egregiously and fraudulently misrepresented to third parties and the public that their company … is affiliated with Rihanna, and has the authority to act on her behalf.”
Adding further salt into the wound, Mr. Fenty’s company allegedly tried to book a 15-date tour in South Africa using her name, the site reported. Rihanna is seeking damages plus a legal injunction on the use of the Fenty name.
The beauty mogul’s relationship with her father hasn’t always been the smoothest, so it’s pretty bold on his part to think he can help himself to a slice of her pie. Plus, right now isn’t the best time for side shenanigans. Rihanna has to keep up with her booming beauty business, and #thenavy is on her back for the exact date and hour of her return to music. This is all so stressful.
