Take this money advice Serena Williams got from Oprah and guard it with your life
It’s no secret — we get very serious when it comes to talking about the green around here. I basically somersaulted when I saw that Serena Williams dished her most cherished financial advice to HuffPost, gleaned from none other than the money goddess, Oprah Winfrey. Imagine having the opportunity to consult with one of the world’s richest people over coffee. A dream!
The new mama was on hand at the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse initiative to promote an important issue that often ties in with domestic violence: financial abuse.
Financial abuse is when a battered person is basically barred from having any financial independence. Their partner can keep them from working or even having their own bank account. This is a topic I think we’ll explore more in our money column in the future.
But back to that $3 billion financial advice.
“She said to watch every dollar that you spend,” Williams said. “In other words, if you have a company and people are using your money, to look at every single expense. And to this day, I do that.”
Alright now, that sounds just like Nadia’s mission in getting you straight for the mid-year check-in. Count your coins, people!
